Cloud Data Archive automatically creates backup copies of the database, program directory, and product photos and uploads them to Google Drive on schedule. If the computer fails, the database can be quickly restored from the cloud and work can continue. The option is needed by any business that keeps records in Torgsoft — from a single store to a wholesale network.
What the Cloud Data Archive option can do
What is archived and when
- Three types of data — separate tasks for archiving the database, archiving the program directory, and synchronizing product photos.
- Upload schedule — daily, weekly, or monthly at the specified time.
- Background operation — archives are created and uploaded by the application server service, so the Torgsoft program itself does not need to remain open.
- Postponing missed tasks — if the computer was turned off or there was no internet connection, the task will be performed at the next matching schedule condition.
Cloud storage and space saving
- Storage in Google Drive — archives are placed in the service folder TORGSOFT_CLOUD, and photos are placed in TORGSOFT_CLOUD_SYNC; the folders are created automatically.
- Archive compression — before sending, the database is packed into a compressed format (.mirz extension), which reduces its size and saves space in the cloud.
- Automatic cleanup — outdated archives are deleted according to the specified storage period (in days); if needed, they can be moved to the cloud storage trash instead of being deleted.
- Smart photo synchronization — only new or changed photos are uploaded to the cloud (the file modification date is compared with the comment in the cloud), and photos deleted from the local directory are also removed from the cloud.
- Several Google accounts — authorization is performed separately for each task, so different archives can be uploaded to different Google Drives.
Control, log, and recovery
- Detailed log — the task execution log shows the sending stage (percentage and amount of transferred data), file verification, and error description.
- Informative file names — the archive name includes the creation date and time, as well as the database and SQL Server version, which makes it easier to find the required copy.
- Local backup protection — if an upload failure occurs, the local archive file is not deleted, and its path is recorded in the log for manual saving to a storage device.
- Recovery directly from the cloud — when installing the program on a new computer, at the «Recovery from image or cloud» step, the installer can download the database and directory from the cloud automatically.
A Google account and a stable internet connection are required for the option to upload archives. No separate equipment or related options are required — the option works independently.
