The option sets a clear validity period for accrued bonuses and automatically writes them off after it expires. Staff no longer need to track deadlines manually, and the limited bonus validity period encourages customers to return to the store sooner. It is suitable for retail stores and retail chains that use a loyalty program.
What the «Bonuses with a limited validity period» option can do
Bonus validity period and expiration
- Bonus validity period — you set the exact number of days from the accrual date after which bonuses become unavailable for payment.
- Automatic write-off — the program checks customer accounts in the background and resets points with an expired validity period.
- Manual write-off of expired bonuses — on the «Marketing - Customer» form, the «Write off expired bonuses» action is available if automatic write-off did not work.
- Validity period for old accumulations — you can set a single expiration date for bonuses that customers accumulated before the option was enabled.
- Validity period for returned bonuses — a separate validity period for points returned to the customer when returning a product paid for with bonuses.
Protection and correct accounting
- Protection against a negative balance — the program never writes off more bonuses than the customer actually has in their account at that moment.
- Accounting for several bonus batches — when batches have different validity periods, the program correctly identifies which batch the spent points came from.
- Double write-off control — write-off is launched by the application server on schedule and is additionally checked at the first program startup under the «Owner» user.
Accrual and customer notifications
- Manual accrual of time-limited bonuses — you accrue bonuses manually and specify the date until which they are valid in the «Valid until:» field.
- Notification about the start of bonus validity — the customer receives a message when bonuses become available for use.
- Expiration warning — the customer receives a message a specified number of days before the bonuses are cancelled.
- Personal variables in templates — the text inserts «Amount of bonuses whose validity period is expiring» and «Days until bonus expiration».
Scheduled automation and reporting
- Scheduled task — calculation, write-off, and mailing can be moved to nighttime so that these operations do not load checkout work.
- Report details — the «Bonus movement analysis» report adds the «Bonus expiration date» column.
Automatic notifications about bonus accrual and expiration work only when the «Bulk customer mailings» option is enabled. Without it, the option writes off bonuses «silently», without notifying customers.
