Gift Certificates — an option that allows you to issue, sell and account for gift certificates with unique barcodes and control the write-off of their nominal value when paying for goods. At the cash register, the program will not allow accepting a fake, unpaid or already used certificate, and in case of combined payment, it calculates the additional payment amount automatically. The option is useful for stores where goods or services are often bought as gifts: cosmetics and perfumery, clothing and footwear, jewelry stores, the beauty industry, bookstores and gift shops.
What the Gift Certificates option can do
Issuing and protecting certificates
- Batch issue with unique codes — the program generates the required number of certificates with unique barcodes, protecting against counterfeiting and repeated use.
- Three accounting models — the certificate works «like money» (deducts the nominal value from the receipt), «like a deferred discount» (discount for the nominal amount, convenient for fiscalization) or «like a product» (full warehouse accounting of cards by accounting centers).
- Barcode settings — you can set your own code prefix («95» by default) and embed your license number in the barcode to avoid matches with third-party cards.
- Validity period control — the validity period in days is counted either from the issue date or from the actual sale date to the customer.
- Acceptance restrictions by outlets — the certificate can be valid at all accounting centers of the chain or only at specified ones.
Sale and payment at the cash register
- Fiscal sale — the option creates a system product type with the «Fiscal» attribute, so certificates are sold legally through the cash register with a correct receipt issued (the pECR or Integration with Fiscal Registrar option is required).
- Combined payment — if the product is more expensive than the certificate, the customer pays part of the receipt with the certificate and the difference in cash or by card; the program calculates the additional payment automatically.
- Acceptance when issuing invoices — a certificate can be used to pay not only for retail receipts at the cash register, but also for invoices and sales invoices in the trade with invoice issuing mode.
- Discount when selling a certificate — a certificate of the «like a product» type can be sold with a discount using the customer’s card, while the recipient redeems it for the full nominal value.
- Payment of old debts — certificates of the «like money» type can be used to close goods previously taken on credit by VIP customers.
- Managing discount accumulation — in the parameters, you can prohibit the application of certain discounts to the part of the receipt paid with a certificate.
- Protection against double scanning — payment with a certificate cannot be confirmed with the Enter key from the scanner, only with the F6 button or mouse, which prevents accidental double write-off.
Electronic sales and online
- Electronic codes — the certificate does not have to be physical: the program generates a code and sends it to the recipient by SMS, Viber or email together with the Bulk Messaging to Customers option.
- Sale through the website — certificates are exported to the online store for online sale and accepted as a payment method in the cart together with the Online Store Synchronization option.
- Transferring payment from orders — when loading orders from the website, the program recognizes the GiftCertificate tag and applies the certificate to the order when issuing an invoice.
Accounting, analytics and chain management
- Reissue of plastic cards — used physical certificates (except for the «like a product» type) can be reset in the database and sold again, saving on plastic card production.
- Mass chain management — for a group of certificates, you can immediately change the list of outlets where they are valid without editing each card.
- Usage analytics — reports show the history of all cards: which ones were sold, which ones were redeemed and which ones remained unused.
- Profitability analysis — the usage report displays the «Cost price» and «Profit» columns to assess the profitability of sold goods.
- Display in the receipt — the amount paid with gift certificates can be added to non-fiscal receipt and pECR receipt templates.
- Visual indication — certificate types have separate icons (percent, money, box), and filters highlight cards that have been purchased but not yet redeemed.
Some functions work only together with related options: fiscal sale — with pECR or Integration with Fiscal Registrar, online sale — with Online Store Synchronization, sending electronic codes — with Bulk Messaging to Customers.
