Metered Goods Calculator converts the area or length required by the customer into the exact number of pieces and packages and immediately calculates the amount due. This eliminates manual calculations at the checkout and errors during warehouse shipment. The option is useful for stores that sell goods by meter but ship them by piece: tiles, laminate, linoleum, parquet, skirting boards, carpets, and thermal insulation materials.
What the Metered Goods Calculator can do
Product setup
- Product dimensionality — one-dimensional (length), two-dimensional (area), or three-dimensional (volume), depending on the product type.
- Unit dimensions — the length, width, and height of one unit are specified for the product in the same unit of measurement set for the product.
- Quantity per package — specifies how many pieces are contained in one package.
Calculation at the checkout
- Conversion of meters into pieces — the salesperson enters the required square or linear meters, and the program calculates the number of pieces and packages.
- Rounding to whole numbers — a fractional quantity is rounded up to a whole tile, panel, or sheet.
- Actual area and amount — after rounding, the program shows the actual area and the final amount due.
- Quick adjustment — for a product already added to the receipt, the calculator can be reopened with the Alt+M key combination to recalculate the new quantity.
Warehouse and transfers
- Accounting in two units — stock balances are visible simultaneously in base units (for example, sq. m) and in physical packages.
- Multiplicity control — during internal transfer and distribution of goods across outlets, the program checks the quantity against the package.
- Non-multiple quantity signal — a row with a quantity that is not a multiple of the package is highlighted in red.
- «Metered product» filter — in the warehouse status, metered items are selected using a separate filter for inventory or revaluation.
Printing and documents
- Document for the warehouse employee — a calculation is printed with the exact number of pieces and packages for the specified area to ensure error-free shipment.
- Data for print templates — the values «Quantity per package» and «Number of pieces of metered product» are available in receipt, invoice, and label templates.
The calculator works independently and does not require other options. It is more convenient when used together with related options: Product storage location simplifies finding packages in the warehouse, Wholesale Price Policy is useful for construction materials, and if the Synchronization with online store option is available, the specified product dimensions can be exported to website data without manual duplication.
