The option takes product photos using a webcam or a built-in laptop camera directly in the Torgsoft program window. The photo is immediately linked to the product card — without intermediate files or manual transfer. It is useful for stores with a large flow of new items and an assortment that is frequently updated.
What the «Product Photography Using a Webcam» option can do
Taking and saving photos
- Taking a photo from the product card — the photo is taken on the «Photo» tab of the product card using the «Take photo» button, without leaving the program.
- Saving without intermediate files — the photo is immediately linked to the card; it does not need to be saved to disk and then searched for manual attachment.
- Replacing or adding a photo — if the product already has a photo, the program asks whether to replace the main image or add another one.
- Hotkeys — the camera is launched with the «CTRL + SHIFT + D» key combination, and the photo is confirmed with the «Enter» key.
Camera and quality settings
- Camera selection — if several devices are connected (built-in and external), the required one is selected from the list.
- Resolution selection — the image quality is set in the window before taking the photo.
- Camera properties — access to system image parameters: brightness, contrast, white balance, focus (the set depends on the camera model).
- Saving settings — the selected camera and resolution are saved for the next launches.
- Automatic camera shutdown — after taking a photo or closing the window, the camera turns off.
Photo storage without overloading the database
- Choosing the storage location — in the menu «Settings — Parameters — Product — Photo — Photo storage location», select either «In folder» or «In database».
- Protecting the database from growing too large — the recommended option is «In folder»: storing photos in the database increases its size and eventually slows down the program.
- Photo recompression in reports — the «Recompress photos in reports» switch reduces images to the report cell size and eliminates out-of-memory errors when generating reports and price lists.
The photos taken are used by the «Online Store Synchronization» option — for automatic uploading of product cards to the website and marketplaces. If a webcam is not connected to the computer, products can be photographed with a smartphone camera through the «Torgsoft Mobile App».
