The «Refer a Friend» promotion builds a two-level bonus system for attracting new customers. The discount card holder recommends the store: the friend receives a discount on their first purchase, and the person who made the recommendation receives a bonus on their card. The program keeps records of attracted customers automatically, without manual calculations. It is suitable for businesses that work with a regular customer base and a loyalty program.
Features of the «Refer a Friend» promotion
Promo codes and discount for the friend
- Two-level bonus system — the friend receives a discount, and the referrer receives a bonus on their discount card.
- One-time promo codes — for each issued friend card, the program creates an individual discount barcode.
- Discount for the friend — a specified discount percentage on the first purchase when the promo code is scanned.
- Code validity period — set in the «Validity period in days» field; a value of 0 makes the promotion unlimited.
- Printing and copying — codes can be printed on a label printer or copied to the clipboard for sending to the customer.
- Restriction by product group — the promotion can apply to the entire assortment or be narrowed down to a specific product group.
Bonus accrual rules
- Flexible accrual terms — choose from: a fixed bonus amount, a percentage of the friend’s purchase amount, or a percentage with a maximum amount limit.
- Minimum purchase amount — the threshold of the friend’s receipt amount below which no bonus is accrued; a value of 0 removes the threshold.
- Separate group logic — if a product group is specified, the friend’s discount applies only to goods in that group, while the bonus for the referrer is accrued on the full amount of the friend’s receipt.
- Automatic accrual — after payment is made, the program automatically accrues the bonus to the referrer.
Cash register, invoices and control
- Application at the cash register — in the «Sale» window, the promo code is scanned into the barcode and article input field «BC/Art».
- Work with invoice issuing — in the trade with invoice issuing mode, the code is applied using the «Scan control barcode» button.
- One-time use — after payment, the promo code is marked as used and blocked from repeated use.
- Write-off on return — if the friend returns the goods, the bonuses previously accrued for this purchase are written off from the referrer’s card.
- Cash withdrawal of bonuses — accumulated bonuses can not only be spent on goods, but also paid out to the customer in cash with recording in financial documents.
Promotion analytics
- Bonus movement analysis — a separate «Refer a Friend» tab shows bonus movements under the promotion.
- Analysis of the «Refer a Friend» promotion results — a report with promo codes, friends’ purchase amounts and returns, available from the customer card and the sale window.
The promotion requires a customer database with discount or bonus cards — it is maintained by the Discount Club option. To send promo codes to customers via SMS, Viber or email, the Bulk Messaging to Customers option is required. For settlements with partners and bloggers, the separate Referral Program option is used, while customer interaction history is recorded by Customer Profile and Binotel Calls.
