The «Product storage location» option assigns each product an exact address in the warehouse — rack, shelf, row, or cell. Employees find the required item in seconds and make fewer mistakes when picking orders. It is useful for warehouses and stores with a large assortment, where goods are arranged by zones and where receiving and picking are performed by different people.
What the «Product storage location» option can do
Addressing and location directory
- Exact address for each product — rack, shelf, row, or cell is stored in the «Warehouse — Storage location» directory.
- Several locations for one product — the same item can be listed on different shelves, racks, or in different warehouse zones.
- Separate addressing by accounting centers — in each physical store or warehouse, a product can have its own address, independent of other objects.
- Bulk address generation — the program creates an entire range of locations according to the «shelves × rows» scheme with rack prefixes and numeric or alphabetic numbering.
- Cell barcodes — a unique barcode is generated for each created location, which can be printed and attached to the rack for working with a scanner.
- Two operating modes — the full functionality is available in the «Several storage locations in the warehouse» mode; the «One storage location» mode provides only a text address field in the product card.
Permanent and temporary locations
- Permanent storage — the product is assigned to a cell permanently directly in the product card or in the directory.
- Temporary location with a term — a product can be reserved for a specific customer order or internal transfer by specifying the final storage term linked to the document.
- Cell status and color — free locations are marked in green, while goods in permanent and temporary storage have separate icons.
- Expiration control — the «With expired term» filter shows products whose temporary storage period has already expired.
- Occupancy warning — if someone tries to place a product in a cell where something is already stored, the program displays a warning with a list of existing items.
Work at the checkout and in printed documents
- Quick address search on the «Sale» form — the ALT + G key combination or the «Product storage location» action shows the cell, accounting center, and product photo.
- Address in documents for the warehouse employee — the storage location is displayed in the «Receipt for the warehouse employee» and «Outgoing invoice for the warehouse employee» for convenient shipment.
- Picking route — in the «Trade with invoicing» mode, invoice items can be sorted by storage locations to pick several orders from one shelf in one pass.
- Search for items without an address — warehouse status filters can be used to select products without a storage location so that no item is lost during receipt.
Quick entry and movement
- Adding by scanning — to link a product to an address, it is enough to scan its barcode on the storage location form.
- Bulk assignment — a group of products in the warehouse status, internal transfer invoice, or customer order can be immediately linked to a permanent or temporary location.
- Moving between cells — the product is «moved» from one shelf to another without deleting and recreating the record.
Some features are available together with related options. The Torgsoft Mobile App option allows the warehouse employee to scan cells, view their contents, and move goods from a smartphone near the rack. The Seasonal packing and storage of goods option allows assigning an exact warehouse address not only to individual products, but also to entire packed boxes.
