The option links the Torgsoft product database with label-printing scales and the printing of custom barcodes for packaged weighted goods. At the cash register, the scanner reads the label — the program automatically identifies the product, its exact weight and final cost, so the cashier does not need to weigh the product manually or enter the weight. The option is for retail stores and wholesale warehouses where products are sold by weight.
What the «Packaging and Labeling of Weighted Goods» option can do
Uploading products to scales
- Integration with label-printing scales — data exchange with popular scale models that print labels: CAS, Digi, Mettler Toledo, Dniproves and others.
- Mass list creation — multi-row selection of weighted goods from warehouse stock at once, without item-by-item entry.
- Transfer of basic data and prices — the item number, product code or PLU number, name and current retail price are transferred to the scale memory.
- Short names for labels — a separate short name can be set for a narrow label, while the full name remains in the warehouse database.
- Distribution of assortment between scales — products are assigned to different scales (for example, meat — only to the meat department scales) using the «Upload» / «Do not upload» marks; one list can be synchronized with several scales at once.
Data on the label
- Extended information — product composition (up to 4 text blocks), ingredients, tare weight for deduction, shelf life in days (the scales calculate the sell-by date automatically).
- Sell-by date control — for perishable goods, a specific deadline date by which the product must be sold is uploaded.
- Custom text messages — any text on the label, for example «Thank you for your purchase».
- Product image — for scales with a touchscreen, the main product photo and type icons are transferred for visual product search by the customer.
- Discounts and wholesale prices — for compatible models, the current discount and wholesale pricing policy (up to 4 thresholds) are uploaded so that the label is printed with promotions taken into account.
Barcode and equipment settings
- Weighted barcode structure — in the «Settings — Parameters — Scales» form, the prefix is set (25 by default), along with the number of characters for weight and the conversion factor, so that grams are correctly converted into kilograms at the cash register.
- Accounting in grams — a separate dimension factor (for example, 0.001) for tea, spices or ready-to-eat food products accounted for in grams.
- Work with piece goods — label-printing scales are also used for pre-packaged piece goods (for example, bakery products): printing a label with a barcode and fixed unit price.
- PLU number management — manual PLU assignment for the most popular items on scales with a limited number of buttons; the rest of the assortment is found by the internal product code.
- Universal export — «Configurable (universal) scales» mode: TXT or CSV file builder for models without direct integration — selection of columns, sequence, encoding (ANSI or UTF-8), separators, multipliers and rounding rules.
- Weighted product code on the price tag — the internal code is displayed on regular paper price tags so that the customer in the self-service department can enter a short code on the scales.
This option is sometimes confused with the «Integration with Scales at the Cash Register» option. Here we are talking about label-printing scales in the sales area, which print a barcode label before the product reaches the cash register. If the product needs to be weighed directly at the cash register during the sale — that is a separate option.
